Meet Meghan

Well, fancy meeting you here. My name is Meghan (Feir) Walker. I’m the owner of FeirMe Writing & Editing and my only employee.

Perhaps you stumbled your way here, or maybe you came here with a purpose. Whatever the reason, I'm glad you decided to drop by.

I want to tell you why working with FeirMe Writing & Editing is your best bet to draw interested or currently uninterested parties to your business, website, social platforms, new book or publication.

Experience. I'd be lying if I said it was my middle name because it's Bethany, but I have loads of experience working in various markets and areas. From selling products to boldly asking for donations (not for myself), I've done it.

In the past 12 years, I've worked as a writer, copy editor, section editor, consultant, event planner, project manager, fundraiser, social media manager and marketer for newspapers, magazines, books, websites, small businesses, agencies, boutiques, higher education and non-profits.

Uffda. Let me sit down for a second.

In 2013, I graduated with a dual major in English and mass communications (print and online journalism) from Minnesota State University Moorhead and also earned a certificate in publishing from New Rivers Press in 2016. I was a music minor, as well, but America doesn't celebrate Bring Your French Horn to Work Day, and my piano and accordion don't fit very well in my briefcase.

Please contact me with any questions or work requests regarding writing, copy editing, marketing or social media.

Why is it called FeirMe Writing & Editing?

First off, “FeirMe” is pronounced “fear me,” although I don’t want you to be afraid. “Feir” is my maiden name, and I’m a little too proud of it.

When I started college, the email assigned to me was feirme@mnstate.edu. I’ve used “FeirMe” in various capacities ever since. Little did I know, “feirme” means “farm” in Irish, so go ahead and call me a “writing farm.” I’ll try to keep my free-range words organic.

Why the loon face?

If you’re wondering why the FeirMe logo (expertly designed by my husband Tim Walker) has a loon in it, take a seat and scootch your chair up. Grab an espresso-sized cup of coffee and let me tell you a story.

Growing up in the Detroit Lakes area of Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes (more like 14,000 plus), I heard the haunting call of my local loons as I went to sleep each summer night. There’s nothing quite like it. If you’ve never heard a loon call before, hold on to your hat because it can send shivers up your spine out of fear (before the beauty sets in).

There are various types of calls, and each one has been embedded into my eardrums and DNA. I even won a loon-calling competition in 2009 and have the ribbons to prove it. And, yes, that is one of my greatest accomplishments in life. I haven’t done much.
